Why a second fixture exists
A putter in the iron vise is a cartoon. The length is wrong for the scribe, the head wants to twist, and the number you get describes the cartoon. Helene had a small aluminum fixture made in 2016 so the grip still sees 5.5 inches of jaw but the head is cradled instead of hanging like an iron. The 300-gram iron mass is too much; we use a lighter tagged mass and we write that on the sheet so nobody compares the number to an 8-iron.
If a shop already reshafted your putter and it “feels dead,” a baseline plus the old hoop (if you kept it) is a useful pairwise test. If you want the putter to “ring like the irons,” you want a feeling, not a measurement, and we will send you down the street.
